Styling Tip

Back comb/flat iron trick for volume and staying power
This trick is used to create lift and hold through the crown or surface of your hair. You want to blow dry your hair as you normally would and make sure it’s completely dry before starting with the flat iron.

1. Take 1/2″ sections through the crown and comb toward the scalp until you create a small cushion of hair
2. Continue through the entire crown
3. After all sections are back combed mist with a thermal protecting spray such as Alfaparf Thermal Protector, Alfaparf Bi Phase Spray, Kenra Hot Spray, or Kenra Thermal Styling Spray.
4. With the flat iron start by quickly clamping at the root where the backcombing is and quickly slide the iron out toward the ends.
5. Continue following each section of the backcombing you previously did.
6. Use your fingers, comb, or soft bristle brush to smooth the surface. You want to smooth just the surface so that you leave some of the backcombing intact to create the foundation for your style.
